Project Presentations

  • Join us to learn from seven students about projects completed in their communities.
  • The 2026 Internship included students from Spokane Community College, Highline College, and Tacoma Community College.

Internship Objectives

  • The goal of the internship program was to empower college students to equitably enhance urban forests. Interns achieved this goal through the development of skills, knowledge, compassion, the completion of independent projects, and introductions to professionals in the field.
  • Students learned tools and methods for identifying communities that would benefit the most from increased urban forest stewardship.
  • Students learned skills for recognizing and stewarding urban trees as critical assets for community and environmental health.
  • Students completed projects to help increase community well-being and urban forest resiliency, and had opportunities to address the inequities in disadvantaged areas.
